Serenading Architecture Project – Chicago
June 18, 2007
The Serenading Architecture project in Chicago focuses on the serenade as tribute/ homage to Chicago’s renowned open public spaces such as its parks and lakeshore. Contributors perform a “love song” for the space. With each serenade, there is a possibility to enhance the architecture – determine what the space needs to be maintained and improved for the public.
The Serenading Architecture project is a combination of participatory performance, drawings, sound collage, walks, and discussions evaluating how we own architecture – gauging our dependence on these social and physical spaces from present or past experiences and future possibilities. It highlights how our daily interactions expand the physical composition of architecture and its intended social activities. The project emphasizes music’s function as mental architecture and storyteller. Also, it reinforces the similarities of architecture and music – their collaborative nature in process and structure.
The Serenading Architecture project is open to participants. Please send an email to serenadingarchitecture@gmail.com or leave a comment if you would like to:
